About Strange Bird Productions

Strange Bird Productions was founded in 2000 by Raven Petretti‑Stamper as a home for bold, original storytelling across stage and screen.

In its early years, Strange Bird made a name for itself producing packed-out one-act play festivals at venues like The Producers Club, Looking Glass Theatre, and Shelter Studios. As playwright Lawrence Schwabacher put it after seeing his piece Swing come to life:

“Boy, Raven. It’s not like you don’t know what you’re doing.”
He was right. And it shows.

By the early 2020s, Strange Bird pivoted to film. In just two years, Raven wrote and produced two award-winning shorts: Through Open Doors and My Friend Doubt, both of which screened at a wide range of festivals including Garden State Film Festival (NJ), Beaufort International Film Festival (SC), and numerous showcases in New York — plus one in Dubai, because why not?

Where We Are Now

As of 2026, Raven is spearheading two standout TV pilots:

  • Bridget & the Boy-bot, a single-camera romantic comedy satire about a woman and her AI soulmate
  • The Compound, a grounded, family-focused dramedy set in a multigenerational household in upheaval due to their patriarch's battle with Alzheimers

The current mission of Strange Bird Productions is crystal clear: sell these pilots and get them greenlit. We're festival-ready, pitch-deck polished, and focused on building the kind of partnerships that can take these stories all the way.

Wish us luck — or better yet, come be part of the journey by clicking here.

Celestial Challenge

Watch what happens when a team of angels go from doing the good work to Team Churn Out Challenges per the Celestial One's wishes in this comedic romp about no good angels.

Short play

Paul Blinder

Paul Blinder is an Athletic Director who’s found himself summoned to the principal’s office by his friend and boss, Sally. There are scandals in the school district and it turns out management feels he is responsible and should be terminated. Paul deftly defends his position and work ethic  as Sally refutes his claims and tries to maintain her position and their friendship. A waffling tale  where only the audience can decide who is right.

Short Play

Never Let Go

This multi character tale, written by Raven Petretti,  is about a woman who finds herself trapped in an elevator with People's Sexiest Man Alive. Try not to laugh as they fall in love and attempt escape.

TV Pilot and stage versions available.

We've Still Got It

In a last-ditch attempt to prove their mojo’s still intact, a couple in their seventies throws themselves into a high-stakes bedroom role-play—complete with flashbacks, fantasy, and a very uncooperative

lower back.
